So, last night the Mr. and I contemplated going out to see Swans, but instead stayed home and watched the Spice Girls movie. ON PURPOSE.

I saw Swans back in 1990 or thereabouts and they were amazing, which was probably mostly them but possibly also somewhat attributable to the Southern Comfort + handful of cold pills I was on at the time. The Spice Girls movie is not amazing, but it didn't require putting on a bra and shoes.

The Spice Girls movie is one of my total guilty pleasures. :D

I can certainly understand that! I'd seen it once before, as had the Mr., and it's nowhere near as awful as it ought to be.

Hell yes! I saw said movie yrs ago, in a theater, with a bunch of friends (I think we all left singing 'Spice Up Your Life'). The two things I remember are: being out of all proportions amused by bus driver Meatloaf saying "I would do anything for those girls, but I won't do that" and deciding that Ginger was the Spice I most identified with because she knew random trivia .

The Meatloaf line is definitely one of my favorite parts! I'm also partial to the Elvis Costello bartender cameo. The Mr. had where-are-they-now questions, so I ended up doing research as we watched and was a bit surprised to find that the Spices seem to be viable tabloid fodder even now. Ginger topless on a yacht!
