Thank you! I wanted to do precisely what you describe, i.e., a version of the future where they might be some version of happy only at the expense of everyone else, and that it's Clark's doing. Clark is just a kid, after all, and his judgment/impulse control are still those of a teenager. However, he's also a good boy and a Kent: he made a promise and he's keeping it, no matter how repugnant the deal.
Even in this scenario, I do still see him as oddly innocent, however.
