Well, clearly you're an unbeliever, and probably a devotee of the devil.

I wondered that myself. So many of the suppositions about the Holy Grail make good, common sense, but proving them is simply not possible to the point of irrefutability. The conclusions they came to in the movie were certainly...hard to support, let's say. Also, the idea that after TWO THOUSAND YEARS, Jesus' descendants would number exactly ONE, despite the merry branching and expanding of virtually every other bloodline from his time and before to this day, is patently ridiculous. Did they purposely limit the number of offspring in his line? And to what purpose? Was exclusivity of the Godseed and/or Holy Cooter going to somehow add to the Jesus mythology?
I love the idea that Jesus was an actual man, who was charismatic and offered a radically different philosophy to people living a difficult life. I love the idea of such a person hanging with the whores and thieves and encouraging them, basically, to value themselves. I can't imagine that he would get to the relatively advanced age of 33 (advanced for those times) without marrying and at least trying to have children. However, I certainly can imagine that the Catholic Church would have had many economic incentives to discourage such tales about a historical Jesus, especially since even the possiblity of a Daddy!Jesus makes enforced celibacy (and the absence of heirs to inherit worldly goods) a bit of a sticky issue.
My understanding, via Chuck, who read the book (I did not, although I've certainly read enough about it!) is that Sophie is not such a retard in the book, and that she actually does her job quite well, finding the answers to the religiomysterious questions Robert proposes. It certainly would have made more sense for her to be able to actually solve a puzzle or two in the movie.
Also, why not let Audrey Tatou be a little charming? Did none of these people see Amelie???
