Too many people focus on Clark and Lex when the writers have shown us over and over that Lana is the real focus of the show. It's my theory that they're deceiving us all and that Lana will return from France with a sex change and that it's her who will grow up to be Superman. Clearly Clark is psychic (see the flashback-to-the-fifties episode for evidence) and is having Lana's memories. That's why she's so upset by his refusal to share his secret with her. They're her memories, after all!!1!
