Merriam-Webster doesn't know what to do with me:

1. velvetlike
2. Viollet-le-Duc
3. flapdoodles
4. flowcharts
5. flapdoodle
6. fair-traded
7. flowcharting
8. valuelessness
9. flowchartings
10. footholds

Flapdoodles and flowcharts?

But I was very excited about Viollet-Le-Duc, because I thought it was Violet Leduc for a second. French, female, technically bisexual, ridiculously neurotic and articulate author of two of my favorite books, Ravages and Le Batard, which I own in lurid-covered 70s paperback editions. And because I insist on sharing my obsessions with anyone who will listen, here's some info: Violet Leduc

However, Eugene Emmanuel Viollet-Le-Duc is pretty interesting in his own right: the "savior of architecture," Viollet Le Duc )

Snow! Light, white and chilly! And there were about 200 robins--seriously--in my backyard this morning, sitting in the dogwood and looking in the window while I made coffee. And it's snowing!!! I'm crossing my fingers for some substantial accumulation, but it probably won't happen.

WiP Day: I used to have my few definitely-never-going-to-finish WiPs up on my site, but when I did my last redesign I took them down, and I don't think anyone has missed them ;) I am very likely delusional, but I actually believe that I'll finish everything else I've started, which is a few dozen SV stories, some Gattaca, a few weird instances of multiple Rosenbaums, Hard Core Logo...I can at least say with some authority that I won't ever be writing Boondock Saints after all. However, I did post a story in the midst of all the WiPs because I? Have no patience. However, I don't want it entirely lost in the shuffle, so...

my new sv fic: Eidolon helvum. It's also at SSA, at Level 3, and here on my site.

rec: Under Surveillance by the charming and ridiculously talented [livejournal.com profile] scribblinlenore.

And this story happens to be a birthday gift for another charming person, [livejournal.com profile] fleegull. I am also highly recommending her ;)

happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] fleegull!

also...

happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] serafina20!

I wish you both the best of things today and in the coming year.

another rec: I can't believe I'm recommending this, because I told her I wouldn't read QaF if she wrote it, but I'm apparently weak-willed and do nothing but cry wolf, because [livejournal.com profile] rhiannonhero is writing a QaF version of Grease that I'm adoring. I think you'll need to be on her list to read the story--so go ask to be added if you're not there already. I just keep telling myself that QaF RPS is not really QaF, and a Grease crossover is not really QaF, because I do think that writing fic about a show where there's no subtext necessary and no call for character subtleties is a waste of time...and I think I've just demonstrated how much my "resolve" is worth, yes?

I should probably find it funny, but instead I'm incensed: I'm getting virus spam from "brent@gilaslash.net". Which is, of course, one of my domains and it is thus impossible for imaginary brent to have an email there unless I've given it to him. *hates lying spam even worse than viruses*
