Eating a ripe, sweet nectarine is like kissing someone you really want to kiss. Or at least that's how I played it tonight. God, I love fruit.

So I watched the rerun, and ( spoilery for Six Feet Under... )

So, I've decided to ignore the tattered shreds of French and Spanish littering up my skull and learn Japanese so that I can read manga unscanlated. Yes, this is hubris in action. I actually know a bit about the language structure and how things are pronounced…I just know very few words that aren't Shinto- or mythology-related ;) and I'm seriously lacking in, well, verbs and such. I have no understanding of the written language, of course (well, a few words of romanji). I have nothing but time, and a varying degree of motivation/ambition, so I'm looking for recs for books/dictionaries and language CDs. Once I can say a few sentences (and understand more, per usual), I'll probably look for a native speaker in the Nashvegas area (ha! good luck!) to bribe into chatting with me. There have to be some Japanese students at Vanderbilt or Belmont…

So, recs? lenajill? Anyone?

My desire to become fluent enough in Spanish to read Cortazar in the original still stands, but there are no pictures in Cortazar. Shut up.

Small caged birds seem to absolutely hate Iggy & the Stooges doing Gimme Danger. I can't say I share their opinion.
