happy birthday, muffin!

For my dear [livejournal.com profile] rhiannonhero's birthday, I was trying to (and will) write her a story, but looking at my dog's malformed head (see several days of random posts about sick dog) has rendered me talentless and spastic, so it won't happen today.

But--but!!! What I can do is tell her--and the rest of you--that she's the absolute best thing about Tennessee, and the main (sometimes only) reason that I think maybe we should never leave Nashville after all. She's basically the best thing I've got*: Smart, kind, loyal, understanding, straightforward, goofy and, of course, talented. She's also very pretty, and if she ever does grow that penis, I will be first in line to help her out with that (well, right behind Randy Harrison).

So, Rhi, dearest muffin, I hope you have had a wonderful day. And if you have some specific flavor of porn you want, let me know. I'm open to suggestion ;)

*it's a given that Mr. Glove and all my furred and feathered babies are also best things, right?

Still v. preoccupied with dog and dog's health. He appears to be feeling better, but his neck lump appears larger, maybe. Also redder. This could be a sign of impending bursting, which will be disgusting when it finally happens. The vet won't be in until Monday, but I've got the emergency vet's number at hand just in case the dog starts acting like he's having trouble/pain.

Actually, dog will probably be somewhat disappointed in his diet when he's healthy again (thinking positive, see?). Tonight he got an elaborate scramble of eggs, cheese, cut-up hotdogs, bread and yogurt - all things he loves, which are softer than kibble and presumably tastier. Though his kibble isn't bad. What? Don't you taste what your pets eat?

Mr. Glove is in Seattle today. He was in Idaho and now he's staying with friends for a few days before going to work again in Olympia. I haven't been back to Seattle since returning here about a year and a half ago. He was verging on tears most of the conversation because, well, that's where we really love to be. Not here, even if it does cost half as much and we have friends here we really love. I started having very intense sensory memories, mostly olfactory, of very Northwesty things, i.e., saltwater, Hoh rainforest loam, the nasty smell of the dirty pavement when it first starts to rain, etc. And I really wanted a hazelnut raspberry scone from the Hi-Spot in the worst way, and I'd eat it at Vivace while sitting the Blue Volga granite counter (which I did consider mine, and which was usually free for me) by the windows overlooking the reservoir while drinking a big, dark cup of coffee. I want, I want, I want. Anyway, I hope the Mr. can get it together to have fun, because there's certainly fun to be had. He also has some shopping to do for me, so he has to pull himself together for that. I'm envious and pining, of course. And he's staying with our friends, D & S, in their classic Northwest/Sunset magazine house, sleeping in what is apparently their Tiki room…

As it turns out, there are two brand-new Big Gay Discos in town, and I might go see what one or both are like tonight. They can't have worse music than the one Rhi and I went to a couple weeks back. It might be fun, and it would certainly distract me from the dog concerns. Because, unfortunately, whatever happens with the dog is going to happen whether or not I'm actively worrying and staring at his head in dread. Cross your fingers for me that, if I do go out, I will find someone to hag and not some leering middle-aged guy who thinks lesbians are hot.
