shetland sheepdog: I am >thisclose< to calling up the local sheltie rescue and making an appointment to meet this little dog they have on their web page. He has a really sweet face and the brief bio hints at the sort of woebegone social maladjustment I seem to gravitate toward in pets. Anyone own a sheltie? Know much about them, pro or con? I know they're supposed to be really barky, though this guy is apparently very quiet (for a sheltie). I've done all the research I can, so I'm hoping for input from actual owners/companions.
We'd been talking about getting a second dog for quite some time when poor Obadiah got sick, so I guess I still just want that "second" dog. With Mr. Glove being out of town so much (and more travel anticipated in the near future), I do miss having the dog follow me around from room to room. I still hear Dobie a lot, but I'm not sure if it's a ghost or just me expecting something where there's nothing to be found.

beta: I sent a 13,000 word story out an hour or so ago and I want it back NOW. I have no idea if anyone will even have time to read it for me, but as soon as I sent it out, my posting clock started ticking. I'm hopeless and demanding.
