I first heard about Wilco from Tom Petty, who remarked that they were going to be a band who would be around in the next 20 years, something he couldn't say for most of the alternative bands out there. I bought a few of their solo albums, but the album I loved loved *loved* was the joint album he did with Billy Bragg, "Mermaid Avenue" vol 1, and vol 2. They took the last songs of Woody Guthrie, wrote music to the songs, and produced two very well done albums.
I uploaded a few of my favorite Billy Bragg & Wilco MP3s-

"Way Over Yonder In The Minor Key"
California Stars
Secrets of the Sea
If you want some more, LMK, I've got I think both of those albums, and then some Billy Bragg on his own.
