Good people, may I give you some advice?

Do not paint your ceiling brown. Not even a "light" brown.

Kicky's ceiling is brown. I knew it was off-white, but I usually see it in the evenings, with lighting dim...and, frankly, I don't usually look at my friends' ceilings unless there's some special reason for me to do so, in which case they point it out. You know: Ooh, Sistine Chapel!

It's so far off white it might as well be black. And I'm painting it white. Stark, fluorescent, chalky, glaring white. I've got roughly 2-1/2 coats on it, and it looks likely to take as many as four.

Also, if you ask me to choose colors for you? Don't change them. The dull golden-orange curry color I picked out and we agreed upon and picked everything else to go with has been switched out for SAFETY ORANGE. The trim was supposed to be a white that didn't know it was apricot because it was so-so-so pale, but apparently they decided stark, fluorescent, chalky, glaring GLOSS white is better.

If you know anything major about Tennessee, it will occur to you that SAFETY ORANGE and STARK WHITE equal University of Tennessee Sports Fanaticism. Go Vols! I am going to call Kicky and interrupt her vacation and tell her (not ask, TELL) that I'm getting the color remixed because it's bad enough she might tell someone I "helped" with the colors with just the glaring white, but the safety orange on top of it is just not going to happen...

And she's in Florida and can't do anything about it anyway.

To distract myself from the painting hell in which I am trapped, I am begging you to humor me and answer this meme, which I have swiped from seemingly half the people on my friends list. I will admit I have not read my FL, merely skimmed, and am aware of this meme mostly as a repeating shape on my screen. It repeated so often that I thought it might be important. It's not important, of course, but it is interesting.

1. Does my username suit me?
2. Is my journal's title cryptic or descriptive? What do you think it means?
3. Does my journal expand your knowledge of me?
4. Do you think my bio describes me well? If there were no names given would you be able to guess who it was describing?
5. Which of my interests surprises you the least?
6. Which of my interests surprises you the most?
7. Which of my interests needs explaining?
8. How many of my friends' journals do you read on a regular basis?
9. How many of my friends are strangers to you?
10. Which of my userpics suits me best?

And my own jed-specific questions:

11. Do I seem like a good candidate to paint a house?
12. Are some oranges better than others?

~~~
Also, watched the rest of S5 Buffy tonight and even though I knew what was going to happen, I bawled. And then we watched the featurettes, and I bawled some more.
~~~

BTW, Happy Sadie Hawkins Day. I know that this is when women are supposed to ask men out (oh, social turn-about!) and apparently the men are required to say yes, but does anyone know where this "tradition" comes from?

1. Does my username suit me?
*refuses to make obvious pun* Yes, yes it does. Sultry and mysterious and hinting at all kinds of fun to be had.

2. Is my journal's title cryptic or descriptive? What do you think it means?
N/A, unless I'm looking in the wrong place...

3. Does my journal expand your knowledge of me?
Only in the sense that I wouldn't know you at all without it. I do learn new things about you from time to time. Also, the red boots are still haunting me.

4. Do you think my bio describes me well? If there were no names given would you be able to guess who it was describing?
Extremely well. I wish I could think of a bio for myself that's half as succint and funny. And I the "black and white" part screams velvetglove to me.

5. Which of my interests surprises you the least? Umm...boyporn.

6. Which of my interests surprises you the most?
stinky cheese! lol.. have you seen that gnome commercial? "I do love a stinky cheese!" i am very sleepy, please forgive the random rambling.

7. Which of my interests needs explaining?
clex. What is this clex you speak of? Feel free to use diagrams and dirty words.

8. How many of my friends' journals do you read on a regular basis?
We have about 59 in common, plus a couple I haven't friended that I check in on periodically.

9. How many of my friends are strangers to you?
whatever 327 - 75ish works out to be. Most of them, in other words.

10. Which of my userpics suits me best?
either 'princess' or your default.

11. Do I seem like a good candidate to paint a house?
Yes.. didn't you confess that you liked painting just a couple of posts ago?

12. Are some oranges better than others?
Absolutely. It's also a difficult color to get right. But Safety Orange? Is never the right orange.

After you finish Buffy, are you going to watch Firefly?

1. Does my username suit me?

Yes.

2. Is my journal's title cryptic or descriptive? What do you think it means?

You're a proper southern belle - a tough chick in a polite hard candy shell.

3. Does my journal expand your knowledge of me?

Seeing as I don't know you outside your journal, yes.

4. Do you think my bio describes me well? If there were no names given would you be able to guess who it was describing?

It's a bit stark, but yes.

5. Which of my interests surprises you the least?

erotica

6. Which of my interests surprises you the most?

seattle

7. Which of my interests needs explaining?

floating world

8. How many of my friends' journals do you read on a regular basis?

63

9. How many of my friends are strangers to you?

The rest.

10. Which of my userpics suits me best?

'crazy' - more for the image as the description.

11. Do I seem like a good candidate to paint a house?

I'd have to see the results of your house painting to properly judge that. But on a guess based on what you've said, yes.

12. Are some oranges better than others?

Yes, although which ones are better depends on the application. The orange I would choose for my walls and the orange I would favor for a child's toy would probably not be the same.

Oh, and the origin of Sadie Hawkins Day is explained here (http://www.lil-abner.com/sadiehawk.html).

Short story--it started as a plot device in the comic strip Li'l Abner.

Some oranges are more equal than others. My downstairs is about to be painted Glidden's "Pale Orange." My first choice was "Summer Lily" -- closer to that gold-orange curry color you mention -- but as I stared at the sample patch on the wall it started to seem too strong and I chickened out. Pale Orange is more of a gold-yellow, really. Chicken! Buuuuuck!

The trim will be a red-brown rust color. I share all this with you for no good reason.

I'm doing the kitchen in Summer Lily, though. With cabinet doors and pantry shelves in deep, dark blue. I worry that it'll be too much for my guests, but after years in apartments with off-white walls, a little boldness is in order.

By Safety Orange, do you mean the orange they make people wear in prison?
