Lucinda Williams canceled. Her mother died this past weekend. Apparently the venue was only notified late last night about the cancellation, so there wasn't time to spread the word except via security guy at the door of the Ryman. Poor Lucinda. I'm disappointed, but I'm more just feeling bad for her in the vague way I can muster for the losses of famous people generally.

And I forgot to tape ANTM - who got the boot? I bet it was Mercedes, even though I love her. Out of all of them, she strikes me as the most natural in front of a film camera. I'd like to see her semi-hosting something, i..e, like the View, except not the View because it's vile. Interviewing people on the red carpet and being charming--that kind of thing. Now if it turns out it was someone else, I'll feel silly.

Poll: I posted a poll earlier and I appreciate people responding. I've been considering several options for changing the way I post, thinking that I was perhaps annoying the audience for stories by posting them so erratically and filling the rest of my time and space with paint chips and birdcages and cowboy boots and glorious hair, but apparently that also has entertainment value for persons other than myself. While pleasant news, this was not the result I was expecting. With the poll results as they are at the moment, a fic-only journal seems pointless. Also, the likelihood that I will actually go friends-locked is rather low--it would fix one aspect of LJ that bothers me, but it would introduce a couple more that I'd probably dislike even more in the long run, so I was just curious how others view locked journals. I personally don't have a strong opinion--most of the people I know who are locked have done so for reasons that seem very valid to me (though, I must point out, my opinion doesn't/shouldn't count for shit re: other people's LJ management). So, while I got my answers with the poll, all it means is I don't have to do anything. Yay for me!

Stories: I've been working on my [livejournal.com profile] remixredux story, and I'm rather excited about it. It's using a POV everyone apparently hates generally, and the way I'm doing it is potentially even more hateful, but I'm hoping I can pull it off. At any rate, I will have at least met the challenge by making something rather dramatically different from the original in every aspect, so I'll be able to give myself a gold star for that. Plus, it's got porn, and I like it.

I was stressing about my Lex & Lillian story, since there will apparently be a Lillian ep coming up, with an actress cast, etc. but then I realized I've got a month to finish it. That isn't really enough time, I don't think, but if I have an inspired day or two, it might be. It's an earlier section of the young Lex story I posted awhile back where he's at boarding school.

I think I have to start over with my Aimee Mann story. Ha! My own challenge, and I can't finish a story!

Crack Van Covers: Haven't forgotten, if you're one of the eight who are still owed covers. I have just been completely uninspired every time I open Photoshop, and I don't want to give anyone an ugly, boring cover (IMO, anyway) if I can help it. The list hangs in front of me as I sit at my computer and shames me.

Well, since I've only seen two weeks of the show, I probably would have enjoyed it, but at least I didn't miss any major drama ;)

While I would have liked to see that--since I've only seen the last two full eps--at least I didn't miss Mercedes getting the axe. I do really think it will be her next...

ANTM was just like a recap of the season so far. You didn't miss anything.

But I did! I've only seen the last two episodes, so I actually would have enjoyed it. However, at least I didn't miss anyone getting kicked out.

You know, I should have listened to you earlier. You said it was fun ages ago and I paid no heed, and thus I missed out on six (?) weeks of catty goodness.

so I was just curious how others view locked journals

I'm torn.

On one hand I can understand that people get some comfort in knowing the world isn't reading their journal, whether it be for professional reasons or simple flaming reasons.

On the other, it does come across as sort of elitist.

Part of my problem is that I don't automatically friend everyone back. I have a real problem with popslash and such. With a locked journal, I'm telling those people that they can't read me, even if they want to because I'm lazy and don't want to go through a filter process. Does that make any sense?

I've also recently discovered that I have several people who don't have LJs who read me regular. I enjoy getting comments from them. If I went to a locked journal format, I never would.
