hair & nose / China! / biker chick / cartoon dick on offer
vanity post: I think my hair is better than average. No news to anyone, right? I find it glorious. I had it done today, and even though the new orange streaks don't show, just know they are there. I realized after I put the photos together that it looks like it's barely below shoulder length, but that's just the front layers. It's actually down to the middle of my back.

And, you know, my nose does look a lot bigger than it is in photos, so maybe Mr. Glove is half-right. But I like big noses, so I guess I'm okay with that.
So, while I was taking photos, I had the Olympics on and I was distracted from my vanity efforts by the Chinese tae kwon do featherweight guy. Tiny, scrawny guy (with a big nose!), who kicked ass on the Mexican guy, all the while making scary, high-pitched shrieks like a sort of white-clad, heavily-padded bat. I thought he was oddly hot. The gold-medal female diver on the 3m springboard was gorgeous and Chinese. And I am rooting for the Cute Chinese Guy in the 110M hurdles. I also thought the Chinese female gymnasts were the most graceful. Now, it's not as though I'm not finding athletes of all nations extra-hot, but the list seems to be heavy on the Chinese.
This means nothing, I know. But, yay! China anyway.
go, me! Did a 10-mile ride this evening with an average speed of 15 mph, which is really great considering where I am with getting in regular rides. I hadn't ridden in over a week, so I was expecting to struggle through this one, but instead I was willful and pushed hard and worked on cadence and breathing and relaxing my shoulders and felt very accomplished at the end of it. When I last rode frequently, I could do a 20-mile ride in just barely over an hour with this bike, but I had plateaued at that speed. Mr. Glove agrees that I need a lighter, more appropriate bike instead of the heavy mountain bike I ride, though actually the extra weight is good for me to have to haul along at this point anway. Now that I'm riding again, I need to do yoga again, too. And with the weight loss, it's easier to achieve many yoga positions because my flesh isn't in my way.
Ai no Kusabi: If you're interested in downloading the vids, let me know and I'll add you to a filter. I've had them uploaded for months, apparently, and forgot all about it.

Wow, the weight loss is really noticable. Bitch.

Fish, yes. They're not pretty enough for me to have pangs of guilt.

I've never looked into the Atkins diet, which is low-carb, too, but apparently that's completely wack and puts people into ketosis. You eat basically no carbs/no sugar/no alcohol/no (or minimal) caffeine for two weeks, all the while eating tons of protein, "good" fats and greens to the point that you really don't want to think about food any more.
Inadvertently, due to the carb (bread) restriction, I discovered that I am wheat/gluten-sensitive and the never-flat stomach I've always had is...now flat, since I'm not trying to digest things I apparently don't really want to digest.
So, besides the weight loss, I'm feeling better overall and have more energy (after the first two weeks of near-constant sleep, which seems to be specific to me and my former all-sugar diet). My biggest problem now is trying to remember to eat and stay in the regular-meals habit, because the weight loss picks up again if I eat more food.
Oh, and after the first two weeks, you are still supposed to watch carbs and sugars, but you are encouraged to drink red wine and you can have chocolate and...
yeah, I'm a goddamn zealot.

yep, still a zealot.

Any words of advice for the novice not-supposed-to-be-out-of-phase-1?

I have discovered, though, that I don't need much carbs or fruit to feel more energetic. Like, tiny amounts. So, I guess I'd say that trying to see how small an amount of carbs and "good" sugars you can add back in order to relieve the exhaustion might be the best bet.

congratulations on the bike riding. 10 miles sounds like an awfully long way to me, but then i'm overly enamored of my car and exceedingly lazy.
and i would very much like the vids please. i'm visiting

Actually 10 miles isn't that long on a bike. And even a slow rider goes a lot faster than most runners. When I was being semi-serious about riding, I did a minimum of 20 miles on each outing. Though it is occurring to me that I'm getting semi-serious about riding again.
I am becoming a sports bore. I need to buy some cute shoes and write some porn to counterbalance.
And I'll add you to the filter.

And way ahead of me with the exercise. Although I have been getting up at 7 am and walking around Green Lake before anyone else is out.

No, you're pretty.

No, you're pretty.

But I agree about walking alone at Greenlake at night. We used to see women running when it was full-dark with headphones on and I thought they were practically retarded, considering how many homeless guys live in that park (or did, anyway) and how many creepy lurkers there are. I mean, if you're going to run at night in near-pitch-dark, at least don't wear headphones.
Maybe we're both pretty. We might have to settle this with a kissing contest.

It's definitely cleaned up around the lake, part of the full gentrification of the neighborhood, but I still wouldn't go around it alone at night.
A kissing contest, eh? You'll have to come visit me then!

Go you indeed with the bike! I haven't ridden as much this summer as I would have liked -- I've recently discovered a love for running -- but the few times I have gone have been wonderful. There's something about zipping through the forest on my bike that always makes me feel great.

I really hadn't felt like riding for, well, years, but suddenly I'm crazy for it again. And, oddly, I've been wanting to run, but it's a really stupid idea considering the problems I've had with my ankles. I guess I just miss the "kid feeling" of running and not noticing any pain or restriction. Perhaps I should run a little and remind myself...

I do not photograph well. Not like, say, you.

Tell Mr. Glove that you are gorgeous and to be nice to you!

Actually, these are pretty terrible pictures for hair admiration, now that I think about it. All you can really see are big blonde bangs...
I need to e-mail you, I know

And I'm less concerned now that I've seen you posting again, but yes, email me and let me know how you're doing. ;)

And I honestly can't remember how many eps of Ai no Kusabi I have, but I think I only have the first two so could i be added on to the filter? Thanks!

You mentioned starting yoga again...it's funny, cos I switched my LJ 'mood' setting to 'Yoga?' so that if I wanted I could keep track of if I'd practiced that day. But it switched on my friends page, too. So, the other day, on one of your entries it said "Yoga?: a light in the dark" I thought that was pretty cool and, for me, an accurate description. I'd certainly be (more) mental without it!

Okay, first of all? Mr. Glove needs to back off. You have a cute nose. And second, yeah, it does look like you cropped it of recent. Orange streaks?
