Mary Sue Meme: There are no Mary Sues with my name, apparently. I did not research any but one of the other spellings, as most variations seem depressingly ignorant. If you want to spell it Gineen, don't inflict it on me, 'kay? On the rare occasions my name is used in fic of any sort, it is used for someone exceedingly objectionable and trailer-trashish. For instance, the awful girlfriend who eventually takes over and "manages" the band in Spinal Tap has my name, and I believe it is even spelled the same. Sandra Bernhard wrote a book where she has this terrible girlfriend with a diseased crotch who has my name, albeit spelled a letter different. When people ask me why I don't use my real name--because it is a reasonably pretty name, I suppose--I think of things like this. Also, the nicknames that have been thrust upon me over the years--they weren't bad (just Jean and Jeannie), but they weren't my name, nor were they what I wanted to be called. Perhaps it seems odd that I much prefer "jed," but at least I picked it, even stupid people can spell it, and there's no way it's going to be further shortened to something I don't approve of.

Site update: Annotated version of Huitlacoche (Corn Smut). If this format is something that works okay for readers (so, you know, if you're interested, I'd appreciate an opinion), I'll probably put up past LJ "commentaries" in this way, too.

ETA: It's always nice to upload the correct file. The actual annotation file should have had roughly twice the number of notes as the one I've had up for the last three hours or so. It has been replaced, fwiw.
