List everything that's on your computer desk! I know we all have messy desks, but try to get everything. You can tell a lot about a person from their clutter.
See, I'm curious. Can one, in fact, tell a lot about a person from their clutter?
desk/computer clutter:
My "desk" is about 11 feet long, but the ~4 foot section in the middle is where I mostly work. We'll do this left to right.
If I ever mention feeling overwhelmed, it's pretty obvious that I do it to myself, or at least make it worse than it has to be.

- 1960s super-faux woodgrain fiberglass tray-thing containing bookmarks, TV remote, miniature copy of Writing Down the Bones, USPS Priority Mail stickers, a flashlight, and a wooden artist's mannequin wearing a leather corset with attached pigeon wings and a big, veiny applied penis (yes, I made this)
- 25-foot Stanley tape measure.
- plastic pencil sharpener
- wooden tray holding miniature gold-colored Bastet figure, small spray can of Evian water, cardamom shea butter, a Maybelline lipstick, a bottle of lilac essential oil (too sweet to wear, but I like the smell)
- bottle of orange/patchouli moisturizer (patchouli does not smell like dirt)
- nail clippers
- pile of stuff: miniature legal pad, metal pencil tin, sketches of cowgirl burlesque costumes, address book with very few addresses actually written in, paperback of D.H. Lawrence's Women In Love, Netflix envelope containing as-yet-unwatched DVD of Miike Takashi's Audition, WACOM digitizing tablet, ~4-foot length of blue-flowered purple kimono silk.
- Japanese woodblock print calendar.
- metal mesh pencil holder containing several pairs of scissors and X-acto knives, as well as metal hair chopsticks.
- ceramic jar full of pens, as well as extra-long black lacquer serving chopsticks, very old Japanese fan, multicolored paper thingy - some sort of party decoration, probably (a gift from my niece).
- paper DVD envelope.
- Two black pens.
- three drawing pencils (F, 3H, 6H)
- ~6" piece of gunmetal sequin trim.
- stylus and holder for digitizing tablet.
- business card for trusted shoe repair place in Seattle
- speaker #1
- small slide box containing the Mr.'s art documentation for his college years.
- seam ripper
- laptop computer, which has several white vinyl erasers sitting in the space between keys and screen, as well as a printout of the tattoo I want cut to size so that I could see it in situ
- trackball
- little statue of Ganesha
- empty pill bottle
- plastic CD box containing TV, anime, manga and pirated program disks with a little 1920s flapper doll, a 1900s Schuco perfume bear, and a purple velvet box containing a tiny vintage kewpie doll sitting on top. Oh, and also speaker #2
- Canon SD200 camera.
- pillbox
- pile of stuff: camera user guide, palm pilot, Richard K. Morgan's Market Forces, Tori Amos' The Beekeeper
- dish of paperclips with a freebie CD (Flaunt magazine, something hip-hoppy, I believe) sitting on top, and blue cat-eye glasses on top of that.
- telephone.
If I ever mention feeling overwhelmed, it's pretty obvious that I do it to myself, or at least make it worse than it has to be.
