Today I wore my one of my favorite dresses. I haven't put it on in months. It was always a roomy garment, and I appreciated that 70 lb. ago. However, now it hangs on me like a couchbound grandma's housedress. It's still a nice print, but after catching sight of myself in several windows, I don't think I ought to wear it again.

Absolutely gorgeous day today, balmy and bright, which is why I was wearing a dress in the first place. I decided to walk to the grocery store to get some dried beans to cook up for the birds and, of course, took the dog with me. I wore my favorite sandals from last year and, while the shoes are broken in, my corresponding calluses are long gone. The sandals created and then opened three giant blisters on my left foot, two on the right. I bought bandaids at the grocery store along with the adzukis and pintos. My feet look like someone has been after them with a vegetable peeler, but the warm weather break-in of my feet each year is a necessary evil, and I prefer to get it over sooner rather than later.

Casey was well-behaved, which made me very happy. He has apparently decided to be friendly with the adorable, submissive puppy whose yard we pass each time we go out and, while he isn't impressed or interested in words, the verbal sound cues I give him seem to be making sense to him. He gets a click-click for good behavior and to get his attention. When he is bad, he gets martianized - if you've ever seen (the underrated) Mars Attacks, the cranky alien language is what we use for a bad-dog cue. The only problem we had today has nothing to do with him and everything to do with the idiots who let their dogs run around free - I ended up picking Casey up and growling loudly and ferociously at a dog that came loping after us. The dog stopped short with a WTF? look on its face, so the face-off worked, I guess. Unfortunately, I picked up my skirt along with the dog, so anyone on that block who happened to look out their window at about 4:30 this afternoon can tell you what sort of underwear I have on today. Oh, all right - I'll tell you: white and gray striped boyshorts with pink stitching and tiny pink bows.

I never thought about it before we brought Casey home, but I really don't see other shelties around town. He continues to draw a lot of attention. People leaning out of their cars, pointing, asking "What kind of dog is that?" People asking, "Is that a miniature collie?" Sometimes I lie and say he is, other times I tell them the truth. All in all, at least 20 people had a dog query, including a girl about 10 years old who was leaving the grocery store as I was entering, leaving Casey tied to the bike rack outside. She and her grandfather actually hung around until I was done shopping so they could ask me about him, and she even waited to pet him until she could get permission from me, which I appreciated. He was, of course, not particularly interested, and for once I wished he'd be a little more friendly with nice strangers every now and then.

The only thing that could improve this day would be a new fansub of Gankutsuou...or not having these blisters.

(((((((((((((((((((((((((Jed)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I don't really have any comment to make about what you wrote. I just enjoyed the heck out of reading it though...and wanted you to know.

I have no doubts, that if anyone could, you could alter that favorite dress into something fabulous and once again wearable.

I always envy when people describe their panties and they are cute and girly. Mine are always one color and boring. Well, except that they are always thongs because panty line is the curse of the shape of my ass.

I swear you are such a better girl than I am. I wanna be a better girl! but it is just so much trouble! Bows and make up and jewelry and hair clip things. It's all so difficult and time consuming.

I'm going to call in a few minutes. Hopefully you are awake.

Take the dress in! If it's a fave, it should still be a fave!

I wish one could miraculously make dresses expand. About 15 years ago I had this - I know you will appreciate this, Jed - probably-50s silk or silk-blend dress, very simple with short sleeves, scoop neck, a fitted waist and slim, mid-calf skirt (with a lovely kick-pleat in back). Side zip, the original. It was always firmish on me, me never having been a tiny-waisted person. But the really cool thing about it was the fabric. It was offwhite with "painted" squares, like a grid pattern, and the "paint" colours were purple, burgundy and ochre. It was gorgeous and, it being the extremely late 80s, I used to wear it with men's lace ups and ankle socks. Depression chic, don't you know.

Tragically I got too fat for it. And there wasn't enough ease to let it out.

Also, I'm so glad you guys have Casey! Pets are LOVE.
