Squee! I love my silly show!
Chloe is Lois is Chloe is Lois!!!! I'm one of the group who always assumed she'd have to go down in bloody tatters to Teach Clark A Lesson, but...she's Lois! I sat through the commercials thinking of Lois storylines and beaming...
It's stupid, but at least it's internally consistent: you can try to kill anyone you want in Smallville, as potentially gruesomely as possible, but so long as your friends back you up in saying that it was all a mind-control mistake, you won't even get a ride in a squad car.
I liked the girlfighting. It was hysterical and even a little scary. AM is such a fun actress to watch. I so want to see her in a really good movie, sooner rather than later.
I loved Adam calling Lana on her princessy crap. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to really faze her, but at least he said it. Ian Somerhalder has a really, really crookedy head, and the awful way they've combed his hair doesn't help. It's like how they always shot Emanuelle Vaugier from the side with the larger eye to make it look really huge in comparison. Why do they want to make their pretty people look funny? Why not just use funny-looking people to start with? They're probably a lot cheaper.
I do like Lana with Adam so much more than I've liked her with anyone they've paired her with thus far.
Loved Molly's glasses. She was pretty except the end of her nose, which had about a hundred little fleshy facets, making it hard for me to look at any of the attractive things about her. I loved Lex sort of seducing her while stealing her data. But how would he know what he was looking for? No. I'm not going to ask that after all. It's Smallville!!!! Lex is being sexy! Nothing better than that, at least nothing they'll film and show to me. I do wonder, however, how Clark explained to Lex that he had to leave Molly's (swanky) apartment to hurry home and save Chloe. That's a huge hole in this ep, and it does bug me.
Overall, I loved this ep. Nice surprises, nice character development and growth...and they seem to be willing and able to develop Lex's "evill" in a subtle, realistic way. I am very happy.
Loved Chloe and Clark's interactions. All of them. Love Chloe.
I knew as soon as Chloe and Clark started talking to Lex about Sommerholt that Lex would be making a deal with Dr. Garner. It doesn't seem like a good relationship to base on threats, however, considering that he'll eventually have to allow Dr. G some access to his brain.
ETA: So sorry if I inadvertently spoiled anyone. I screwed up my tags, which only ever seems to happen when it actually matters a little bit. Fixed now. And I'm doing penance.

Date: 2004-01-28 07:58 pm (UTC)I doubt TPTB would hesitate to mess with a future Clark/Lois reporting pairing. I even like the idea, since it makes Chloe's little love speech in Fever very prophetic.
I'm just all a-squee. I can't help it ;)

It probably is mostly personal. I mean, I love Lois as Chloe's cousin in fanfic, and I always love the Chloe becomes Lois fics too. It's...maybe it's because in Fanfic I'm Clex OTP because in this verse, that's where my heart is. But I don't know, I've always wanted Lois to stay out of this verse entirely because the Lois/Clark was this huge chunk of his future. She was the girl who would be his perfect match, and-- mind you, I'm not this huge Supes fan so I'm probably explaining this wrong-- Bex or Livia would be able to better comment on this--- but I didn't want all his feelings with Lois just basically rehashing his feelings for Chloe that he never got to act out back then. I like that Lois underestimates him when she first meets him, and she grows up to get to know him for who he is. I like that they balance each other out, and grow into each other, and giving her this background takes that away from me.
If she's Chloe, she already loves Clark. And if she's Chloe's cousin, it's just very oh you were my cousin's love interest back then and here I am just stepping into my cousin's life-- mind you, I'm not saying I don't think they can pull it off, it'll just take a readjustment on my part. I already do think of a lot of Supes established canon and SV canon don't go hand in hand anymore.
I'm not sure I've explained it adequately. I am all a-squee about the ep. God, Lex, every time I think I couldn't possibly love him more, he goes and proves me wrong. And I find myself totally excited about the future and even the DOOM! *bounces*
I love my show. I really need to make an icon that says that.
