Well, I guess it's not...but my feelings behind that desire are...childish. I don't care WHO reads, I just want to know that they're there doing it, admitting to it. I find it really annoying that I can upset people who think I'm talking about them behind their backs when 1) they haven't friended me, so why would I know that they are reading? and 2) why would my journal be all about people who, so far as I know, don't even know I exist?

It's interesting to me that quite a few fannish people consider me a neurotic paranoiac because I want to know these things, but I read a bit of that tedious discussion on lj_biz re: LJ "friend" designation changes and was interested to note that apparently most non-fannish types consider reading without friending to be stalking. I wouldn't go that far, but there are a couple of people who have told me they read my journal regularly but do not have it friended, which makes no sense to me. Ideally, my journal would be unreadable by anyone who hadn't friended it until they had done so, in which case they'd be added automatically.
